글로벌 가치사슬 시대에 다국적기업의 역할 측정에 관한 연구
다국적기업(MNEs)의 해외직접투자(FDI)가 국가 경제발전에 중대한 역할을 담당함에 따 라 많은 선행연구들이 FDI의 결정요인을 파악하기 위해 다양한 시도를 해왔지만, 아직 일관적인 결과를 도출해내지 못하고 있다. 이러한 결과는 다국적기업의 실질적인 경제활 동보다는 재무적인 FDI 자금의 흐름에 연구의 초점이 맞춰졌기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구 는 다국적기업의 현지 자회사의 부가가치 창출활동을 바탕으로 개발된 OECD AMNEs (Activities of MNEs) 데이터베이스를 활용하여, 다양한 거시경제적, 제도적 요인들이 누적 FDI 유입액과 다국적기업의 현지 부가가치창출액에 미치는 상대적 영향을 비교, 분석하여, 향후 AMNEs 통계가 정부 정책입안의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있는지 확인하는 것을 주된 목적으로 시행되었다. 2005년부터 2016년까지 57개 국가를 대상으로 시행된 고정효과 패널 SUR(Seemingly Unrelated Regression)모형분석 결과, 다양한 국내외 파트너들과 함께 수행되는 다국적기업들의 부가가치 창출 활동을 담고 있는 AMNEs 통계 는 다국적기업들의 FDI 추세뿐 아니라 그 활동의 다양성과 강도까지 파악할 수 있게 해준다는 점에서 향후 국가 정책입안의 기초자료로 활용될 가치가 충분하다는 점이 입증 되었다.
A Study on the Measurements of the Roles of Multinational Enterprises in the Era of Global Value Chains
As foreign direct investment (FDI) of multinational enterprises (MNEs) plays an important role in national economic development, many previous studies have made various attempts to identify the determinants of FDI, but have not yet yielded consistent results. These results are because the focus of the study was on financial FDI rather than the actual economic activities of multinational corporations. Therefore, this study utilizes the OECD AMNEs (Activities of MNEs) database developed based on the value-added activities of local subsidiaries of multinational corporations to investigate the effect of various macroeconomic and institutional factors on the cumulative FDI inflow and the local value-added creation of multinational corporations. The main purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the relative impact and confirm whether AMNEs statistics can be used as basic data for government policy making in the future. AMNEs statistics, which contain value added activities that multinational corporations engage in with various domestic and foreign partners, are valuable to be used as basic data for future national policy making.
