The Impact of Korean CEOs’ Political Orientation on Organizational Capacit : The Role of Entrepreneurial Orientation
본 연구는 기업가적 지향성을 매개로 한국 CEO의 정치적 성향이 기업의 조직역량에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 살펴보았다. 이전 연구에서는 CEO의 정치적 성향이 회사 성과에 영향을 미칠 수 있다고 제안했지만, 이러한 연구는 주로 미국 CEO에 초점을 맞추고 특정 정당에 대한 정치적 기부를 정치적 성향의 지표로 사용하고 있다. 같은 문제를 다른 방식으로 다루기 위해 본 연구에서는 한국 CEO의 정치적 성향을 측정하기 위한 설문조사 방법을 채택한 후 기업가적 지향성의 매개역할을 검증하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, CEO의 정치적 성향이 조직역량에 미치는 영향은 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 CEO의 정치적 성향이 보수적이든 진보적이든 기업의 조직역량에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않는다 는 것을 의미한다. 둘째, 보다 정치적으로 보수적인 견해를 가진 CEO가 더 높은 기업가적 지향성을 보이는 경향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 기업의 기업가적 지향성이 높을수록 조직 역량이 향상되는 경향이 있었다. 마지막으로 CEO의 정치적 성향과 조직역량 간의 영향관계에서 기업가적 지향성이 유의미한 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 CEO 의 정치적 성향이 조직의 역량에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않지만, CEO의 정치적 보수주의 는 기업가적 성향에 영향을 주어 간접적으로 조직역량에 영향을 미친다는 것을 의미한다.
한국 CEO의 정치성향이 조직역량에 미치는 영향 : 기업가 지향성을 매개변수로
This study examines how Korean CEOs' political views affect their firm's organizational capacity, using entrepreneurial orientation as a mediator. Previous research has suggested that CEO political orientation can impact firm performance, but these studies focus mainly on American CEOs and use political donations to a specific political party as the indicator of their political orientation. To address the same issue in a different way, in this study, a survey method was employed to measure the political orientation of Korean CEOs, and then the mediating role of entrepreneurial orientation was tested. The findings are as follows: First, there was a non-significant effect of CEO's political orientation on organizational capacity, implying that the political orientation of the CEO, whether conservative or liberal, does not directly affect the firm's organizational capacity. Second, CEOs with more conservative political views tend to have higher levels of entrepreneurial orientation. Third, a higher entrepreneurial orientation in the firm tends to be linked with an increased organizational capability. Finally, considering the mediating role of entrepreneurial orientation in the link between CEO political orientation and organizational capacity, a significant mediating role was found. This indicates that while the CEO's political orientation does not directly affect organizational capacity, CEO political conservatism does so indirectly through its influence on entrepreneurial orientation.
